Best Picture of 2012 goes to Argo.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences takes it upon themselves to name all of the best that filmmaking had to offer over the last year. The red carpet, performances and award show are typically shown through cabletelevision.net. Of course, every year there seems to be some controversy, and this year was no different. While the hit movie “Argo” did manage to take home the “Best Picture” award, many thought that it was snubbed in other categories, including a “Best Director” award for ben Affleck, who not only starred in the movie Argo but also directed it.

Ever since the Academy has flooded the “Best Picture” category with 10 films the process seems to have become a bit tougher as far as choices go. While Argo was definitely worthy of winning the Best Picture statue, the fact of the matter is that many saw it as a forgone conclusion, simply because of the fact that Hollywood loves to celebrate itself.

Since Argo was a story based around what Hollywood did to free hostages, it was all but guaranteed to win the Best Picture award at this year’s Academy Awards.

That being said, Argo was excellent, and was well done by Affleck. Many thought he should have walked away with a Best Director award as well, but that didn’t happen.

Even more stunning was the fact that Argo was not even recognized in the Best Picture category at other award shows, which lead some people to think that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences may have overlooked it as well.

That obviously didn’t happen, as Ben Affleck, the Argo Cast and the Argo crew all enjoyed a very nice night at the Oscars after they walked away with the biggest award of the evening.
